Biography
| I have always loved fairies. In my search for Fairy Art I found my taste very selective and difficult to find. It was because of this my X-Fiance encouraged me to try and paint them myself. My reply "I can't even draw stick figures". So he went out and bought my first pencils, water colors, paper, and ... Five years later, I am far from stick figures. I am constantly working to better my art, I am my own worst critic. I am still learning, and I grow with each painting I create. My art shows strong influences from Amy Brown and Nene Thomas, however I follow quite a few fairy artists who's work inspires my own. Aside from my own art, Amy Brown's, Jessica Galbreth's and soon Jennifer Singleton's art, grace my home. I am a self taught artist, with no formal training, but I do not believe that formal training makes a great artist. I believe opening your mind and heart to things out of the norm is what makes a great artist. What I paint is an extension of who I am and my deepest feelings that I can not put into words. Each of my paintings is inspired by someone, something, or an emotional drive to create. Without my X-Fiance's encouraging words and persistant coaxing I would have never realized this talent. Though we have parted ways, I owe him many thanks for seeing in me what I could not see in myself, and helping to develop it in any way he could. I also owe special thanks to my wonderful children who constantly encourage my work and critique it only as a child can, with fresh, untainted eyes, and in true honesty. Sky |
